Where can Asbestos be found?
Asbestos can be found in almost any building material - it's use was widespread from the 1930’s through to 1999.
Typical locations where Absestos can be found are:
- Asbestos cement products
- Textured coatings
- Floor tiles, textiles and composites
- Sprayed coatings on ceilings, walls and beams/columns
- Asbestos insulating board
- Lagging
- Loose asbestos in ceiling or floor cavity
The HSE Website gives a useful schematic view of the possible locations of asbestos in buildings. It is by no means an exhaustive list but it does give a good background to the typical locations it may be found.
