The CITB offers grants to Construction Industry employers sending their staff on ‘short duration off-the-job training courses’. This is part of their drive to increase the amount of training given to workers in the construction industry. The CITB's aim is to develop a ‘world class’ construction industry.
Encompassed Ltd has researched this area for our clients and is able to provide advice on how to claim along with all the necessary forms.
The grants are offered to workers who are likely to encounter asbestos during their day to day work. They’re also available to workers who aren’t directly involved but would benefit from an appreciation of the risks.
By sending 15 employees to one of our training sessions, your company could save anything from £220 to £660 per course.
The Details:
By law, all contractors whose annual wage bills are above £69,000 are required to pay a CITB levy.
By doing so, these firms are entitled to claim the upper limits of the grants; currently £330 for 0.5 day and £660 for a full days training (Based on 15 delegates).
Firms with an annual wage bill below the threshold are under no obligation to pay the levy but are still entitled to claim the standard grants.
Currently this is £220 for a 0.5 day and £440 for a full days training, again, based on 15 delegates.
Should these smaller firms choose to pay the grant, they are eligible for the higher limits.
(Grants differ for 'In-House' training)
