What is a Webinar?
A webinar is simply a seminar or Training course held over the internet. You will sometimes hear them referred to as Web Conferences, Webcasts or Presenter sessions. These terms are all mean the same thing.
Rather than having to travel to a physical meeting room to watch a presentation, delegates simply log onto a website to see the slides and undertake the training.
All the traditional presentation tools such as a pointer and highlighter pen are available to the presenter along with more advanced functions such as voting.
Delegates may press a button on their screen to put their hand up and be invited to speak by the presenter. Webinars soon replace many face to face seminars as the preferred way of working.
The most obvious advantage of webinars is their convenience, there is no need to travel. Delegates simply log in from their desk or home office therefore saving time and money. Other benefits include:
- Everyone gets a perfect view of the presentation on their screen
- All participants can hear the speaker clearly no matter where in the world they are
- As you can stagger your workforce over a number of courses there is a reduced loss of productivity.
