Asbestos Awareness Training

Encompassed can provide UKATA and IATP registered Asbestos Awareness Training. Our course is designed to meet and exceed the HSE's requirements & demonstrate in a practical way how, to protect your workforce. Courses are held at either your own venue or at an external conference centre and are regularly held at a number of different venues across the UK.

Up to 15 delegates are permitted on each course, the content of which will be tailored towards your particular area of work. Training takes approximately 3.5 hours and includes practical aspects. Upon completion of the course, a certificate valid from either UKATA or IATP will be issued for a period of 12 months, in line with HSE guidance.

Our Asbestos Awareness Training covers the following topics:

• The properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including its interaction with smoking,
• The types of products or materials likely to contain asbestos, (including library of pictures)
• A short video appropriate to the work undertaken by your workers
• The operations which could result in asbestos exposure and the importance of preventive controls to minimise exposure,
• Managers Responsibilities (how to protect workers and avoid a prosecution)
• Role of Asbestos Surveys and how to understand what is involved (with practical demonstration)
• Safe work practices, control measures, and protective equipment, (what you can and can’t do)
• The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment
• Emergency procedures (how to deal with an asbestos incident)
